do tell pls, how you got text-only in your panel up there? i switched to a dock on KDE only because i couldn't get rid of those useless little icons in the panel.
well that's a clever workaround. i thought it might have to do with transparency set in some config file.
Remember to set panel icons size to 16. I use smooth tasks plasmoid and there's also an option to reduce icon size, but I think it'll be ok with usual tasks plasmoid.
